Introducing Sargon and the Immortals

The newest addition to the Prince of Persia franchise is Sargon, an elite warrior of the Immortals. The Immortals are a team of warriors who have fought and won many battles together. In The Lost Crown, the youngest of the Immortals, the player does not embody the prince, but instead must rescue him.

The Curse of Time

The Lost Crown brings a unique twist to the Prince of Persia franchise – a curse that has mixed up time, so that the consequences and causes of events are no longer in their natural flow. This creates a unique puzzle-solving experience for the player, as they must unravel the timeline to progress in the game.

Inspiration from Real Places

The developers of The Lost Crown drew inspiration from real places such as Paris and Tehran, as well as natural landscapes like the Iranian Forest. This adds a feeling of exploration and discovery to the game, as the player is immersed in the rich Persian culture and legacy.

Living Elements

The Lost Crown also features living elements, such as platforms that must be activated by shooting them. This adds a unique combat system and acrobatic element to the game, creating a core experience that is both entertaining and challenging.

Prince of Persia: Platforming and Combat

Prince of Persia is an important part of our domain platforming. Our level designers are very experienced in platforming, having worked on games such as Rayman. We strive to create unique gameplay elements. For example, with the Bears, you must shoot to reveal a platform. This creates a navigation puzzle, tricky platforming, and even use it in combat. If you have enemies on it, you can shoot the bell and let the enemy fall into the spikes.

The strength of our game is that the characters are easy to handle, allowing you to easily mix combat and platforming. We also compare everything to music partition, with half and quarter notes everywhere. This was something we used a lot for platforming and combat. We also define a glaucoma system, which is tied to the character’s personality. This allows for freedom and creativity in the player’s movements.

Back in the day, the Sands of Time pushed the boundaries with smooth animations.

Aiming for the Highest Animation Quality

We are aiming for the highest animation quality as possible for the last Crone game, with a goal of having a smooth, challenging and responsive gameplay. All the gameplay animation is based on keyframe animation, which is the way to animate without motion capture. This allows us to masterize the timing and make it more cartoony.

Creating Everything with Keyframe Animation

With keyframe animation, we can create everything, from the puppets design to the line of action and the nice shape of the character. This means that even if it’s not possible to have two actors to grab one by the head and launch it, we can still create it with keyframe animation.

Respecting Players and Their Autonomy

This game is modern and respects players, cleverness and autonomy, so that our players feel free to decide what their next objective is. This is a genre where players are in isolation, so it is very important to always give information to players, sometimes in an obvious way, like with big landmarks, and sometimes in a more subtle way, so that players can discover the consistency of the world and how everything is connected.
