Controversy Surrounding Minecraft Servers

The gaming world is currently embroiled in a new controversy surrounding Minecraft servers, specifically those with firearms or firearm models present. A notable example is Grand Theft, Minecraft, which is essentially a version of Grand Theft Auto in Minecraft. Other massive servers such as Hypixel also feature games with firearms present.

Mojang’s Warning

Mojang, the team responsible for finding servers that do not comply with the Minecraft terms of use, sent an email to Grand Theft, Minecraft warning them that they must remove any presence of firearms or face a total ban from official Minecraft servers. If a server is banned, no official Minecraft account can connect to it. The only way to connect is with a cracked account.

Grand Theft, Minecraft’s History

This controversy began when Grand Theft, Minecraft posted the email they had received from Mojang. This is not the first time they have been warned by Mojang. In the past, they had a literal casino in the game, and apparently players could use real money in the casino, making it highly illegal, even from a legal standpoint in some countries.

Europe Restricts Video Games with Gun Content

Most European countries have restrictions on video games that feature gun content, requiring players to be at least 18 years old. This has been an issue in the past, with the game Mode Junk being one example. The team behind Mode Junk had previously received emails from Mojang, the company that regulates servers, informing them that their server was not compliant with the conditions of use for Minecraft and Mode Junk.

Mojang Directive on Gun Content

Recently, Mode Junk received another email from Mojang, this time informing them that gun content was not allowed as it was deemed to be adult content. The email stated that the server did not comply with the conditions of use for Minecraft and Mode Junk. The reason cited was that a recent directive from the leadership team at Mojang had deemed that guns and gun content in general did not comply with the terms of use.

Minecraft’s Commercial Use Guidelines

Minecraft has recently updated its commercial use guidelines to prohibit content for adults, gamebling, and any reference to firearms or weapons. The guidelines state that any server that does not comply with these regulations must be changed or risk being banned.

No Weapons Allowed

The new regulations make it clear that any reference to weapons or firearms must be removed immediately from the server. This includes any type of weapon, from guns to bows and arrows.

Mode Junk’s Response

Mode Junk, the company that runs the server, has responded to the new regulations by saying that many servers have invested a lot of time and money into creating experiences with weapons, and that they find it unfair that they are now being prohibited.

7 Day Deadline

Mode Junk has been asked to confirm the receipt of the email and have 7 days to make the necessary changes, or their server will be banned.

Are Bows and Arrows as Dangerous as Firearms?

The bow and arrow is often seen as a less dangerous weapon than a firearm, but is this really the case? While a bow and arrow may not use explosives, like a firearm does, they can still be just as dangerous.

Explosives in Video Games

The use of explosives in video games, such as TNT in Minecraft, is a common occurrence. However, the use of firearms in video games is not allowed. This is due to the fact that the use of firearms in video games is seen as too violent.

Violence in Video Games

The issue with this is that the video game already has weapons, such as TNT, which are arguably more violent than a traditional firearm. This raises the question of why firearms are not allowed in the game, while other weapons are.

Interpreting the Terms and Conditions

When looking at the terms and conditions for the game, there was no mention of firearms being banned. This suggests that Mojang could change the way they interpret the terms and conditions at any time, and decide to ban firearms in the game.

Game You Implemented Yourself Now Banned

You implemented your own game with modes and now it’s banned. The last point that makes it even more ridiculous is that these servers could just change the model of the weapons and you have games that are already like this on other servers where people have garden tools in their hands, like shovels that shoot firecrackers to beat their opponents. Technically it’s a weapon, but according to these new rules it’s not a fire weapon and it doesn’t even exist in real life, so it wouldn’t be banned according to these new interpretations of the rules. So it just becomes stupid because it’s basically a weapon and it hasn’t changed the nature of the game, you’ve just changed a model.

For me this change of interpretation clearly comes from Microsoft because it’s a very puritan thing. Americans are very strict, you can’t talk about guns but it’s everywhere in their culture. It’s even more ridiculous, for example you can’t drink alcohol in public in the US, you have to put it in a brown bag, but that means if you see someone drinking something in a brown bag you know what it is. So it’s just stupid and it’s exactly the same here. People are just going to put brown bags on the weapons, they’ll change the model of an AK 47 to a model of a shovel or anything else, it could be anything.

Mojang’s Decision to Ban Servers with Firearm Content

Mojang’s recent decision to ban servers with firearm content has been met with backlash from the gaming community. The company has interpreted their own terms of service to mean that any content that is illegal in real life is not allowed in the game. This includes firearms, which are illegal in most countries.

The Legal Side of Firearm Content in Video Games

When it comes to the legal side of firearm content in video games, there is a rating system in place. The PEGI 12 rating allows for games with firearms to be played by children as young as 12. PEGI 16 and PEGI 18 ratings are for games with more violence and firearms. In real life, however, you must be at least 16 or 18 to own a firearm and pass a permit.

Mojang’s Decision is Stupide

Mojang’s decision to ban servers with firearm content is stupide. It reinforces the puritanical American view that firearms are bad and should be banned. It also ignores the fact that the content could be changed to something that is not a traditional firearm and still be allowed.

Mojang Should Reverse its Decision

Mojang should reverse its decision and stop imposing American puritanical rules on the gaming community. At the same time, servers that are engaging in illegal activities, such as gambling with real money, should also be banned. It is shameful that Mojang is targeting servers with firearms while allowing other servers to operate without consequence.
