Stalker 2 Leaked By Russian Hackers
A whole development build of Stalker 2 has been leaked by a group of Russian hackers. The build’s protections were broken the day after the leak, and the internet was flooded with a wave of materials from Stalker 2. GSC Game World, the developers of Stalker 2, reacted immediately by publishing a statement. According to the statement, GSC had been attacked by the group of hackers for a year and a half before they were able to obtain the compilation intended for internal tests of various mechanics.
The Russians responsible for the leak claim that the source of the leak was GSC itself, and that some people from the West were the first to find it. It’s hard to say who is right in this dispute.
Russians Taking Revenge
The Russians are taking revenge for GSC’s decision to withdraw Stalker 2 from sale in their country. Not long ago, they stole a large number of concepts and other materials with which they tried to blackmail the developers. The blackmail didn’t work, so they published something there, but generally few people cared.
Disgusting Comments on Leaks
The comments on the leaks, GSC and the rest of the Stalker community on the Russian side of the internet are so disgusting at times that it’s hard to call them a Russian Stalker community right now. No community would behave like that.
Introduction
GSC Game World, a Ukrainian game developer, has been accused by some Russians of being an incompetent company that can’t make Stalker 2 for 5 years. Despite this, the game itself looks promising and many Russians are looking forward to its release. However, some Russians have declared that they will boycott the game if there are too many coats of arms of Ukraine in it. It seems that it is impossible to please everyone, but the Russians will have to wait and see.
GSC Incompetence
It is worth looking at the alleged incompetence of GSC from a broader perspective. Leaks of Stalker have been around for a long time, both before and after the game’s release. It is almost as if there is a Russian Robin Hood who gives material to the community. It is possible that this time it was different and that GSC did not upload the materials, but the Russians who spread it.
It is clear that GSC Game World is not an incompetent company, and that the game itself looks promising. However, it is impossible to please everyone, and the Russians will have to wait and see what the game has to offer.
Tomatoes and War: What Does It Change?
Tomatoes are a beloved food for many. From May to October, some people may choose to eat only tomatoes. Picking them is not prohibited, and the appetite of the eater is the most important thing. But if everyone were to take this approach, it would lead to a multitude of problems.
The same is true for the case of Stalker and war. Some employees are performing their duties remotely, not because they are comfortable with it, but because it is cheaper. Testers in Ukraine are cheaper than in other countries, and developers may be willing to support the domestic market.
GSC Game World and the Pandemic
The last GSC game, Cossacks 3, was released in 2016. The company has many investors, but it has been making one title for five years. In the middle of work, a pandemic began, and soon after it, the war.
It is unclear what kind of world this could lead to, but it is clear that the consequences would be severe. The appetite of the eater is important, but it is not the only factor to consider. The financial issues, the effects of war, and the pandemic must all be taken into account.
Introduction
The recent leak of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 screenshots has caused a stir in the gaming community. While some people are blaming GSC Game World for the leak, others are pointing fingers at the media and the fans. In this article, we’ll take a look at the situation and explore who is really to blame.
The Use of Torrents
If the use of torrents made the company’s job easier or saved money, then we should be happy because more money would be left for the development of the game itself. However, if someone clicked in the wrong place, resulting in unauthorized people gaining access to something, then the only party to blame is those who decided to distribute it.
Proper Community Behavior
Ideally, the first person who discovered the leak should have reported the issue to GSC. If someone had previously downloaded everything and had it on their disk for “personal use”, then there’s nothing we can do about it, but that person should not be publicizing it either.
The Media
Going back to our tomato example, it’s hard to understand why someone would want to shove the tomatoes down other people’s throats. If you’re looking for incompetence, the only party that has shown it is the media, including in Poland. They reported the leak and the GSC reaction: fine, that’s what they’re for. But who, in their right mind, publishes stolen screenshots? A nod should be given to the media that received the GSC appeal and decided not to push the topic further.
What’s Next?
Shortly after the whole leak case, Russian language channels disappeared from the official Discord server due to the behavior of some people.
GSC Cuts Ties with Russian Community
GSC Game World, the developer behind the upcoming Stalker 2, has cut ties with the Russian community in a rather small but significant and symbolic move. This comes after months of the Russian community’s questionable behavior.
GSC’s Reaction
GSC’s first reaction was a laconic statement. It is unclear whether the fault lies with Russian hackers, a developer’s mistake, or a cynical gamble by GSC to upload an old build and win a marketing Oscar when they show a new compilation.
Xbox Games Showcase
June marks the start of the festival of players, with events such as Summer Game Fest, Game Fest, and PC Gaming Show. GSC had planned to show some material on Microsoft’s stream, but this was before the leak scandal. There is no indication that this will affect their plans, so there should be some footage from Stalker 2 in the coming days.
Advice
Our advice is to completely ignore any material released by the Russians. Don’t be bewitched by them.
