Introduction

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro is a 48mm smartwatch with a hefty price tag of 500 or 550 depending on the band. In this review, we take a look at the design, materials, and durability of the Huawei Watch 4 Pro.

Design

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro is a large watch, even for modern smartwatches. It weighs 65 grams, making it heavier than the regular Huawei Watch 4, but not quite as heavy as the Huawei Watch Ultimate. The screen is made from sapphire and has a subtle curve to it. The bezels don’t stick up above the surface of the screen, which helps protect it from scratches and nicks.

Materials

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro is constructed from premium materials, including titanium alloy which is also used on rocket ships. This makes the watch durable and resistant to scratches and nicks.

Durability

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro has been tested against tough surfaces and has so far remained unscathed. This is testament to the watch’s durability and its ability to withstand everyday wear and tear.

Huawei Watch 4 Pro

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro is a durable and versatile watch. It is ip68 water and dust resistant, and can be submerged to depths of 30 meters and five atmospheres of pressure. It comes with a choice of leather or titanium bands, with the titanium band being easy to snap off and resize with a switch on each link.

Setting Up the Watch

To set up the Huawei Watch 4 Pro, users will need to download the Huawei Health app, which is available for both IOS and Android devices. Setup is fast and simple, and the Huawei Health app is comprehensive and user-friendly. It allows users to download and update watch faces, transfer music, and download new apps via Huawei’s app gallery.

Huawei Wallet

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro also supports Huawei Wallet, which allows users to store their payment information and make payments directly from their watch.

Huawei Watch 4. Pro

The Huawei Watch 4. Pro features a 1.5 inch AMOLED display with a 466 by 466 pixel resolution. The display is crisp and clear, with vibrant colors and a sharp contrast that makes it highly visible outdoors. The peak brightness is powerful enough to sear your retinas, and the viewing angles are great. This is a top Smartwatch panel, as you’d expect at this price point, and it also has an LTPO display, which means that the refresh rate can scale down when the watch isn’t in use.

Watch Faces

The Huawei Watch 4. Pro offers a variety of watch faces, including Huawei’s new You Planet Quest. This watch face greets you with a different planet every day, and it shows you which parts of the Earth are in darkness and which are in sunlight.

Settings

You can play around with most of the settings on the Huawei Watch 4. Pro through the app. Make sure to check in occasionally to see if there is a firmware update, as two have been released in the past week.

Pre-Installed Watch Faces

Give it a bit of a twirl, exciting stuff I’d imagine. It probably gets quite repetitive, though, once eight days have gone by you’ve got a good variety of watch faces pre installed on here, and I really like how Huawei has added a power level indicator up top as well. So you’ve got a rough approximate idea of how much battery life they will drain, and quite a few of these are animated, including this here fishy dream effort which really helps to bring the Huawei watch 4 Pro to life.

Got plenty of analog and digital ones to choose from including quite a few that are absolutely packed very dense with information. And if you tap the little Cog on the watch face selector, you can change up exactly what information is displayed. So if you’re not particularly bothered about win and gibbouses, you can get a bit of heart rate action on the go check out your calorie burn, all kinds of random stuff. Likewise, if you’re not really particularly interested in how much battery life you have remaining, you can change that to a stopwatch or a timer function check out the weather.

Huawei Wallet

You got shortcut to the Huawei wallet, theres, also an option to create your own video watch face, but this is a wee bit glitchy to say the least. At the time I shot this video and if we jump back on into that mobile app youve got a massive selection of watch pieces.

Download and Install on the Huawei Watch 4 Pro

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro can be downloaded and installed, but many of these come with a cost. Several British quids – if you’ve already spent a half a grand on a watch, a few extra quid may be too much to ask.

Free Section

Thankfully, there is a free section. You can browse through and see if anything catches your eye. Most of these watch faces have a corresponding always on display, keeping it consistent.

UI on the Huawei Watch 4 Pro

The UI on the Huawei Watch 4 Pro is similar to Wear OS and other Smartwatch interfaces, making it easy to use. From the main watch face, you can swipe left to access widgets. These are customizable – just long press and you can add or remove widgets. There is a decent selection of widgets, most of which are health-based. The Huawei Watch 4 Pro has some new widgets which aggregate information into one screen. For instance, the lifestyle widget has calendar and date information, as well as shortcuts to apps and features.

Weather Forecast

The watch face offers a weather forecast, giving you an idea of what to expect for the day.

Health Dashboard

The health dashboard provides a quick glimpse at your major stats and allows you to take an all-in-one health readout, known as a health glance.

Stress Relief

You can also kick stress right in the with some nifty breathing exercises, all completely customizable.

Celia Assistant

Swiping right from the main watch face gives you fast access to Celia assistant. Celia is a very special case indeed, and you can either tap the little icon, long press the button or wake her up by saying “Hey Celia”. If you have enabled the option, you can ask her questions such as “When are Sunderland Football Club playing their next match” or “How many grams in a kilogram”. You can also set a timer for five minutes.

Swipe Up to Browse Notifications

Surely you can do that? Okay, timer, set to five minutes. If you swipe up you’ll be able to browse your notifications and as always with Huawei watches, if you’ve got a Gmail notification, all you can do is read a bit of it. You can’t actually respond to it, delete it anything like that. You can delete the notification. That’s basically it.

Respond to Messages in WhatsApp and Messenger

In somewhat of a breakthrough, you can now actually respond to messages in WhatsApp and messenger direct through the watch. All you got ta do is tap this Wii icon down here, and you can either tap out your reply on a pin for the small keyboard, frankly you’re much better off just pulling your phone out your pocket or, alternatively, you can reply using your voice, courtesy that Built in mic. That mic is usually pretty good at hearing you even over quite a lot of background noise, if not quite as perfect, at always working out the exact words that you said and thought to be fair. Most of the time it does a solid job.

Record Voice Memos and Answer Phone Calls

You can also use that built in mic to record Wii voice memos that will remain finders when you’re out and about and with the Miken speaker setup. You can also answer phone calls without you know going through all the effort of pulling your phone out your pockets.

Huawei Watch 4 Pro

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro is a great device for talking on the go. You can talk loud and clear in noisy environments, without any problems. It also has a good bit of eSIM support, as well as Wi-Fi for getting connected.

Managing Connections

You can manage your connections and access all of the settings by dragging down from the main watch face. Here you’ll find all the main toggles, and you can edit this screen to take out any toggles you don’t use.

Buttons

On the right edge of the Huawei watch, there are two buttons. The top one can be tapped to wake up the device and bring up the full list of apps. This is a rotating dial, so you can use it to zoom in and out of the apps menu, as well as scroll through any other menus.

Pre-Installed Apps

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro has a reasonable number of apps pre-installed, including all the basics. You’ve got timers and alarms, as well as Pedal Maps which can run independently on the watch.

Using the Huawei Watch

The Huawei Watch is a great tool for outdoorsy people, with its usual barometers, compasses, and more. It used to be that tapping the bottom button would record an exercise session, but now it brings up the Quick Bar, giving fast access to three of your favorite apps and features. This is customizable via the settings, so you can keep fitness tracking, health glance, and timer in there.

Huawei App Gallery

You can also download more apps direct through the watch via the Huawei App Gallery. It has quite a lot of apps, including mapping, calculators, health apps, and even an air horn app. You can get different colors of air horn, and it’s as good as you hoped it would be.

Games

The Huawei Watch also has some simple games, including naughts and crosses. It’s great for killing time, and it’s also quite reliable – it didn’t crash when I was using it.

Bloody Easy

I’m assuming it’s the Celia AI that you’re playing against here and one more quickly let’s test out the Love Tester, which appears to actually just be a daily horoscope app. Hang on a sec, what? I’m sorry! But that is not a lion, that is most definitely Hitler’s gone ads.

Love Test Bit

There is a love test bit, but this just permanently says its offline. Just like my love life, then hey and yes, you do have the Huawei wallet here on the Huawei watch 4 Pro as well as you can see, you can add cards via the health app, but unfortunately any actual credit cards or debit cards or anything or write out here in the UK – or you can add, are Loyalty cards which is a bit of a bum.

Fitness Features

Now, of course, a large part of the appeal of smart watches is the fitness features, and, as always, you can track your exercise sessions here in the Huawei watch 4 Pro with support for a huge number of efforts covering pretty much anything, you could possibly think of. It’s pretty much comprehensive, everything from golfing to swimming, martial arts, body combat, lots of dad’s shenanigans, even stuff like hula hoop and frisbee and darts. The sort of periphery is it really a sport? Is it a sport? If you sit on a horse for an hour, I do enjoy a good bit of weekend shuttle in though so yeah, whatever you’re into.

Voice Feedback

When you start a session, you get full voice feedback and regular updates. Every time you hit 10 minutes or a certain heart rate, you can check out all of your stats as you’re exercising right here on the screen.

Media Controls

You have fast access to your media controls mid-workout as well. At any point, you can pause the workout by tapping the top button and then finish it off and dive back into the Huawei Health mobile app.

Exertion, Heart Rate, Calories Burned

You can see exactly how much exertion, heart rate recovery, and how many calories burned you went through during the exercise.

Health at a Glance

The Health at a Glance feature is really good if you just want a fast readout of all of your main stats. Just tap measure, and this takes a couple of minutes and walks you through all the different bits. It starts off with a good bit of ECG action and you’ve got your heart rate, SPO2 levels, and stress levels.

Respiratory Health Test

There is a new feature, the Respiratory Health Test. For this one, you basically just need to cough on your watch a couple of times and then you’ll walk through your results. Apparently, if you keep taking these tests long enough, the app can warn you of any possible long-term health issues, such as if it notices that your rest and heart rate is rising over time. This could potentially save you from key lenova prematurely.

Huawei Health Clover

The Huawei Health Clover is back in action and ready to go. It has a chunky frame for a good reason – it houses a 790 milliamp hour capacity battery. This battery can last up to four to five days of full use from a single charge, although some users have reported closer to three and a half to four days.

Power Drain and Watch Faces

The power drain and watch faces can be used to get the most out of the battery. The always on display can be permanently turned on, and all the health features can be used, including sleep tracking. The sleep tracking can rate your sleep out of five stars.

Ultra Long Battery Life Mode

If the battery is almost drained, the watch has an ultra long battery life mode. This mode is more useful than usual, as it can still track exercise sessions and get all your stats updated.

Recharging

When the watch needs to recharge, it can be placed onto the magnetic dock. It takes around 90 minutes to get back to the 100% level.
