GTA 6 Leaks and Insider Reports
There have been a ton of leaks and Insider reports over the last couple weeks that revealed a bunch of new Intel about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). From these reports, we can get a better idea of what to expect from the game.
GTA 6 Sales Projection
Recently, games industry expert Juice Van Drunen shared his predictions for GTA 6’s sales number. According to Van Drunen, GTA 6 is expected to sell between 12 and 14 million copies on launch day. This number is based on a 20 attach rate across the Xbox and PlayStation. This means that 20% of console owners will buy GTA 6 on the day it comes out. By the time the game drops, which is believed to be late 2024 to early 2025, launch numbers are expected to be between 12 and 14 million, which is solidly above the 11 million that GTA 5 sold in its first 24 hours.
GTA 6 Expected to Sell 25 Million Copies
Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is expected to sell roughly 25 million copies by the time the launch hype wears off. This number is slightly below the 32 million copies that GTA 5 sold during its first three months, but there are some key differences between the markets.
GTA 5 Sales
GTA 5, which launched in 2013 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, managed to sell over 1 million copies in its first 24 hours. At that point in the consoles life cycles, they were already in over 150 million peoples’ homes. GTA 5 was then ported to the PS4 and Xbox One just a year after the original version launched and then shortly after that, the PC version came out.
GTA 6 Sales
GTA 6 may only be expected to hit 25 million copies in the time frame where the previous game hit over 30 million. This is mainly due to there not being as many people playing on the PS5 and Xbox series consoles as they were playing on the 360 and PS3. Despite this, GTA 6 is still expected to do well in terms of long term sales.
Budget for GTA 6
Reports have suggested that the overall budget for GTA 6 is crossing the one billion dollar mark. If the game sells 12-14 million copies on launch day, this would generate an insane amount of money for Take 2 Interactive.
GTA 6 Expected to Make Back Budget Quickly
GTA 6 is expected to launch for 70 dollars, which is more than the 60 dollars that GTA 5 launched for. Given that GTA 5 crossed the 1 billion revenue mark in just three days, it is practically guaranteed that GTA 6 will make back its budget quickly.
Explosive Launch Sales Expected
GTA 6 is expected to have explosive launch sales, but will likely slow down as time goes on. Since it is not being re-released as quickly as GTA 5 was, it will take longer for GTA 6 to reach the same sales benchmarks.
GTA Online to Pick Up Slack
We have been hearing rumors that GTA 6’s version of GTA Online is going to feature giant map expansions over time and start doing some really crazy stuff, even crazier than GTA 5’s version. So, if the base game ever slows down in terms of long term sales, the new version of GTA Online is sure to pick up the slack.
PS6 and New Xbox Release
When the PS6 and new Xbox come out in 2027 or 2028, GTA 6 is likely to see an increase in sales as well. This will further ensure that Take Two and Rockstar make more than enough money to justify the lengthy development and massive budget.
GTA 6 and GTA Online
Grand Theft Auto 6 is on its way, and with it comes the inevitable port for PC. But what about GTA Online? According to a trusted source of Rockstar information, there are some potentially controversial details about the future of GTA Online.
No Dedicated Servers
Our source has revealed that GTA Online 2 will not run on dedicated servers, which could present a number of major problems for a game of this scale. It has also been stated that explosion Shenanigans may still occur on GTA 6 because of how explosions are streamed from the closest player to them.
Recent Drug Wars Update
Rockstar keeps adding checks to explosion native functions, much like the recent Drug Wars update for GTA Online. This suggests that GTA Online players will still be subject to things like desensing and random lag spikes, even with the amount of money going into GTA 6 and the revenue it is sure to generate.
Reliable Source
Our source is a reliable one, so if they are saying the game isn’t going to have dedicated servers, we should believe them until we hear otherwise.
GTA Online 2 News
According to prominent GTA leaker Marco, Rockstar is planning on completely remastering the Liberty City map from GTA 4 and using that as the big final update for the current version of GTA Online. This Liberty City update will be the last update the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game ever receive, although the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series versions will continue to get smaller updates and patches as time goes on.
GTA 6 Announcement
When it comes to the final major update for GTA Online, apparently it’s going to take us back to Liberty City. Rockstar has yet to reveal when this announcement will come, but hopefully it’s soon, as to not take away from the hype of the GTA 6 announcement. The initial leaks for GTA 6 claimed the game would have multiple settings and take place across multiple time periods, however after the data breach at Rockstar, it seemed more likely the game would only be set in Vice City and its surrounding areas, and only during the modern day.
