Vivo V29 vs V27 – An Improved Camera
The Vivo V29 and V27 are two of the latest smartphones from the Vivo range, and they both boast improved camera capabilities. The V29 has a more natural and closer to true-to-life video in night mode, with less of a red hue than the V27. Additionally, the V29 has improved sharpening and contrast, which can be seen in the details and complexion of the video. The background foliage in the video is also autofocused, and the contrast is not as strong as the V27.
Sharpening and Contrast
The sharpening and contrast of the V29 is more consistent across different shots, and this can be seen in the sky, which appears more boosted and vibrant. The skin tone also looks more natural, with less of a reddish hue. However, there is still some oversharpening, which is more noticeable in the V27.
Pixel Peeping
When pixel peeping at photos taken with the V29, it is evident that the details are more natural and not as oversharpened as with the V27. The pores near the nose and chin are more noticeable, as is the hair, eyes, and eyebrows. When there are thin parts of the image, they should appear softer, but with the V27, they appear oversharpened and harsh.
Dimensity 7200
The V29 is powered by the Dimensity 7200 processor, which is known for its easy-to-tweak ISP. This makes it easier for the processor to handle details, and this can be seen in the samples. The pores near the nose and chin are more noticeable, as is the hair, eyes, and eyebrows.
Backlight Performance
When compared to the V27, the V29 has a better performance in backlight conditions. The V29 is able to lift the shadows better than the V27, and the background brightness is not as overpowering. This makes it easier to take photos in challenging lighting conditions, such as backlight.
Vivo V29 vs V27 – Improved sih.. Tapi .. // Camera Review
Overall, Vivo V29 offers an improved image quality compared to V27, particularly in terms of contrast. The device is capable of performing this without excessively manipulating the program, resulting in a more natural look. This is especially evident in extreme backlight conditions, where the V29 outperforms its predecessor in terms of contrast. Additionally, the device is able to maintain the naturalness of colors, such as the green of the trees in the background.
Ultra Wide Camera
Unfortunately, the V29 still only has an 8MP ultra-wide camera. This means that when pixel-peeping, the results may be somewhat lacking. However, in general, the results are still sufficient for posting on social media. When it comes to challenging conditions such as backlight, the most noticeable deficiency is in the detail.
Portrait Mode
The V29 lives up to its slogan of Ultimate Portraits, with its portrait shots being of good quality. The character of the main rear camera is also brought over to the selfie camera. The skin tones are not too harsh, with the gradation between shadows and highlights being smooth. The details are also sharp, but not overly so.
Video Quality
The V29 is capable of recording in 4K at 30fps. Unfortunately, it is not capable of recording in 4K at 60fps. The bitrate is also not particularly high, which is a common issue with MediaTek chipsets. However, when recording in 1080p at 24fps, the separation between the subject and background is quite good. The bokeh effect can also be used to produce more playful footage.
Low Light Performance
When it comes to low light performance, the V29 produces good results. When compared to the V27, the difference is not particularly significant, with the main difference being in the colors, which are slightly warmer and more saturated in the V29. The device also does a good job of neutralizing yellowish lighting.
Heat Dissipation
When using the V29 for long periods of time, such as when taking photos and videos outdoors in hot conditions, the device does not become too hot. The temperature of the device was around 41-42 degrees Celsius, which is not too uncomfortable.
