Build Quality
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has been subject to reports of poor build quality due to inadequate quality control. Issues such as asymmetrical antenna lines, fading titanium frames, and uneven screens have been reported. Fortunately, my unit is free of such issues.
Speaker Quality
Reports of a buzzing sound emanating from the top speaker at volumes above 80 have been circulating. I too have experienced this issue. Upon further investigation, I believe this may be due to the speaker tuning rather than a hardware issue, as the iPhone 15 Pro Max speakers sound more immersive and richer than my iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Overheating and Battery Drain
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has been reported to heat up quickly and drain battery faster than its predecessors. Upon first use, I too experienced this issue. However, Apple released a press release stating that the issue was only a bug and was fixed with the release of iOS 17.0.3. After updating to iOS 17.0.3, I noticed a significant improvement in all aspects mentioned above. The build quality became smoother, the screen became even with the frame, the speaker no longer buzzed, the battery became more efficient, and the phone no longer heated up quickly.
IOS 17.0.3 Performance Review
The latest iOS 17.0.3 update has brought a number of improvements to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Users have reported smoother performance in day-to-day activities and better battery life. The battery can last up to 8 hours with heavy usage, which is comparable to the 14 Pro Max. Apple has achieved this without sacrificing performance, as evidenced by the highest and lowest scores on the iOS 17.0.3 update.
Gaming Performance
The gaming performance of the iPhone 15 Pro Max has also been improved with the iOS 17.0.3 update. Playing Genshin Impact at 60 FPS yields a smooth experience. This was tested against the 14 Pro Max, and the results were impressive. The 15 Pro Max was able to maintain a maximum temperature of 46 degrees on the screen, while the 14 Pro Max reached 47 degrees. On the back, the 15 Pro Max had a maximum temperature of 47 degrees, while the 14 Pro Max reached 52 degrees.
Handling and Design
The handling of the 15 Pro Max is much more comfortable than the 14 Pro Max due to its improved weight distribution and softer edges. The frame is made of titanium, which makes the phone lighter. The best color options for the 15 Pro Max are Natural Titanium and White, which look more elegant and classy. The white color is reminiscent of the iPhone 4S, which is nostalgic for some users.
Action Button
The action button on the 15 Pro Max is highly customizable, allowing users to assign different functions to single, double, or triple presses. This is a great feature, but some users prefer to use it for the silent switch.
Bezel
The bezel on the 15 Pro Max is thinner than previous models, making it look more immersive. This is a welcome change, as it makes the phone look more modern.
Camera
The camera on the 15 Pro Max is still playing catch-up to Android phones. However, the video performance is still strong, and the photography performance is as expected.
